In my last article, I discussed user experience, which is set to take center stage in your SEO with the upcoming Google Page Experience update announced by Google.

Today, I'm back with an article dedicated to the tools you'll need to optimize your page experience.

Screaming Frog

In one of my previous articles on tags, I already mentioned this indispensable tool that allows you to perform a simple and quick audit of your site. This powerful crawler is comprehensive and allows you to scan your site in its entirety. It will then provide you with a wealth of data about the different pages of your site, from your various tags and meta descriptions to your copywriting content, response codes, and image sizes. In short, a more than complete analysis, with lots of information and data. You will also have the option to export everything in the form of an Excel spreadsheet.

PageSpeed Insights

This free tool was launched by Google and is used to measure the loading speed of your pages. It thus provides an analysis for both desktop and mobile versions to optimize the display speed of a web page.

We discussed this in this article, but the loading performance of a web page is already measured by Google and taken into account with an LCP score. Your score will, of course, impact your organic SEO and your ranking. So don't neglect this optimization step.

PageSpeed Insights therefore offers a report on user experience but also on the multiple technical points to improve in order to reduce the loading time of a page.

The color code allows you to quickly visualize the criteria that need to be optimized as a priority and those that meet the expectations of indexing robots and Internet users. In short, a simple, effective, and free tool that will allow you to optimize your website in a few clicks.

Lighthouse

Here's another free SEO tool from Google: Lighthouse. Install it quickly and audit your site in a few clicks.

This extension available on Google Chrome generates an SEO report of your web pages. Like PageSpeed Insights, the tool is free and easy to use. Here too, a color code will allow you to quickly visualize your areas for improvement. Lighthouse analyzes 5 categories, with scores out of 100:

  • Site performance
  • SEO score
  • Accessibility
  • Best practices
  • Progressive web app

The analysis remains light but it will allow you to highlight common errors that often prove fatal for your organic SEO.

Google AMP

AMP, or Accelerated Mobile Page, is an open-source tool developed by the AMP open source project and supported by Google. It's a completely different publishing format created in response to Facebook's formation to improve user experience by reducing the loading time of a page viewed via a phone. In other words, it's a method of creating web pages for static content that allows for quick rendering.

It's a fairly simple way to improve the user-friendliness of your pages, knowing that the majority of these AMP pages offer an optimal experience to Internet users.

Be careful, as with its Page Experience update, Google plans to change the eligibility criteria to appear at the top and the AMP format will no longer be an essential prerequisite as long as your pages are well optimized.

I have just presented you with a non-exhaustive list of tools that could help you daily to improve the experience of your site's users. Simple and effective optimizations to check regularly.

Remember, user experience is going to become even more central in organic SEO.

Yet another Google update that will not go unnoticed and will have a considerable impact on your SEO. The search engine is increasingly making user experience a key element in organic SEO. Don't miss out!

In a future article, I will talk about some tools that will allow you to check your user experience.
